Aware of the high economic cost of access to highly specialized information, and facing the need of access to such information to contribute to the strengthening and quality of postgraduate programs, the generation of new knowledge and the development of research in Iberian America and the Caribbean, the Iberian America and the Caribbean Consortiums website was created, aiming to share documents and experiences that bring improvements to the operation of regional Consortiums.
The website was consolidated after the first Iberian America and the Caribbean Consortium Meeting, organized b y the National Consortium for Scientific and Technological Information Resources (CONRICYT), the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT), the Information Access Consortium of Chile (CINCEL) and the Brazilian Institute for Science and Technology Information (IBICT), on August 31 and September 1, 2017, in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
It seeks to define joint courses of action to strengthen the Consortiums that aim for universal scientific and technological knowledge to become the domain of students, academics and researchers, broadening, consolidating and facilitating access to scientific information in digital formats.
